Are you unhappy with the stained or discolored appearance of your teeth? We can help you have a brighter, whiter smile by offering a variety of teeth whitening options. Over-the-counter teeth whitening products may be inexpensive, but they do not give you the safety or amazing results you want and need. However, you can get those dazzling results when our dentist provides in-office or prescribed at-home whitening treatments.
In-Office Teeth Whitening Treatments
Our dentist examines color of your teeth and evaluates your oral health before recommending the best method for whitening your teeth. Often, the best option is to have the procedure done in the dental office. A few examples where in-office treatment is the whitening option of choice are when:
- You have Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD).
- You have dental veneers on some but not all of your teeth.
- You have stains in the deeper layers of your teeth.
- You want the most dramatic results possible.
The Teeth Whitening Process
Before we perform the whitening treatment, our dental hygienist cleans your teeth to ensure you get the maximum results possible. Next, your dentist places a protective shield over your gums to protect them from the substances used to whiten your teeth.
After we prepare your teeth for the procedure, your dentist carefully applies whitening gel to all the surfaces of your teeth. At that point, you wait 15 minutes for the gel to do its work. The dentist may use a laser or a special light to better activate the oxygen in the gel for a brighter result.
At the end of this whitening period, your dentist removes the gel and can repeat the process several times, depending on the amount of discoloration and the whitening results you expect. Also, we can send you home with at-home whitening products to maintain your beautiful smile.
Dentist-Prescribed At-Home Whitening
Our dentists can prescribe in-home treatments if your teeth do not need as much whitening or if you want the convenience of whitening in your own home. We make impressions and send them to the laboratory so dental technicians can make custom whitening trays for you to use. We provide the products and tell you when and how long to use them. The entire process takes about two weeks. This procedure is affordable but still effective in producing whiter teeth.
Who Can Have Teeth Whitening Treatments?
We provide dental whitening treatments for people of all ages in and from our office. If the discoloration of your teeth is mild to moderate, we can likely perform the treatments to dramatically improve the whiteness of your teeth. If you have stains in the deeper layers of your teeth, we can use special products to give you cleaner-looking teeth.
Although a few dental and medical problems can make it difficult to undergo teeth whitening, we can often overcome these problems with in-office treatments such as deep bleaching treatments. And, if your teeth need more than whitening, we can recommend other treatments and make over your smile to a lighter and more lustrous shade.
